Training Philosophy

Philosophy

Here at team Narwhal our philosophy is to always provide a group/lane assignment for every level of swimmer, from novice to world class, and for every person’s individual goals, whether they are fitness/health, masters pool competitions, open water/Triathlon, or just social.

Members and drop-ins can cross-over and come at different times - morning, afternoon or evening group - whatever fits your day. Our coaches will be on deck to help you!

Workout Groups.

Group 1: Is for all levels with a heavy emphasis on technique work. Lots of drills, no fixed "intervals" to make, low key and a great place for beginners to learn the ropes and more advanced swimmers to head over to on recovery days or for some work on the "basics".  this is my happy place

Group 2: Base interval range of 1:30 to 2:00 per 100 free (unassisted by fins or paddles!). All sets will be given with a "stroke option" which we encourage but do not required.

Group 3: Base interval of 1:30 or faster per 100 free (unassisted). Swimmers in group 3 will be given more stroke and IM work and be given a lot of grief if there is whining about doing it!
